Glenrothes teenager Charmaine Shearer has been selected to compete for a place in a beauty pageant being held in Disneyland Paris later this year.
The next step for Charmaine is competing in a regional heat in Glasgow when five winners will be picked to go forward into the final in Paris against girls from all over the world.
“I have wanted to take part in a beauty contest for a few years now,” Charmaine explained.
“Although I am looking forward to going to Glasgow I am a little nervous but I think that’s normal so I should be okay.”
It’s certain to be a busy summer for the 16-year-old who will leave St Andrew’s High in Kirkcaldy next month and start a catering course at Fife College.
And she can always count on the support of her family as she begins life after school.
“Once we knew she wanted to enter the pageant we had a look into what was involved and have been helping her ever since,” dad George said.
“We have lined up another contest in Blackpool so I will drive her to that one and her mum will be there to encourage her as well.
“There’s a lot of charity fundraising involved as well which is a great thing for young people to be doing.
“We’re very proud of her, and we’ll be there to help in any way we can.”
Further information about Charmaine’s progress in the pageant will appear online at www.faceoftheglobe.com.
