Generous Langtonians have been digging deep to ensure families in less fortunate circumstances are still able to enjoy Christmas.
A steady stream of donations is being handed in to The Cottage Family Centre in Kirkcaldy’s Templehall following the launch of the charity’s festive appeal a few weeks ago.
And local businesses and shops are also helping out with donations of goods and cash to help the families with younger children.
Pauline Buchan, service manager, said she was delighted with the response so far and urged people to keep giving what they can.
“People are so generous and we are constantly amazed with the donations we get from local businesses and from members of the public just popping in with donations of food, toys or money for our Christmas appeal,” she said.
“Tescos have once again been absolutely fantastic with extremely generous donations of shoes and clothing and on Friday and Saturday this week they are doing a special toy bank just for The Cottage which we can’t thank them enough for.”
With the services being offered by the charity now expanding into the Gallatown area, even more families are being included in the appeal this year and Pauline says each year sees more and more people being referred.
“This year with all the benefits reforms is going to be particularly difficult for many families,” explained Pauline. “Just one little gift could help make a child’s Christmas special.”
