BONGO drums replaced boring sums at Methilhill Primary last week as learning was brought to life with a bang by an African chief.

Primary five and six pupils have been finding out all about Africa and, on Thursday, they were visited by Chief Suleman Chebe, who brought along his bongos – a well-known symbol of the world’s second largest continent – and a show was put on for parents.

The visit was part of a National Museums Scotland project aimed at beating a path for new ways of learning by bringing museums directly to pupils, and is set to be rolled out across the country.
