Stagecoach has revealed its procedure for dealing with unruly and aggressive passengers following a recent incident on a Glenrothes to Edinburgh bus, reports KEVIN QUINN.
A passenger aboard that bus was angered when the driver told him to call police to deal with a foul-mouthed drunk man and did not seem interested in getting involved. A spokeswoman for Stagecoach in Fife revealed that the driver did not carry out the procedure in place and that this incident will now be investigated.
She said: “It is unfortunate that occasionally we carry passengers who behave in an abusive and inappropriate manner and our drivers receive extensive training on this type of situation, normally stopping to call the police if required and/or contacting their depot for advise and further instruction.
“This particular incident has been reported to us and we will investigate the matter fully following our internal disciplinary procedure as necessary.”
The spokeswoman added that drivers use their own mobile phones for communication, and are reimbursed for any such requirement.
