A MAN has been charged in connection with a fire at a flat in Dunearn Drive, Kirkcaldy before Christmas.
Fife Police have thanked the public for their help.
They confirmed a 25-year-old has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident on December 23.
Residents had to be evacuated to nearby Dunearn Primary after the blaze broke out and a 64-year-old man was taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
But, fortunately, no-one was injured as many people were out at the time of the incident.
Detective Sergeant Scott Davidson thanked the public for their help with the investigation.
He said: “This was a serious and potentially life threatening fire, which could very easily have had tragic consequences.”
He added: “I would like to thank the public for all the assistance they provided throughout this enquiry and for the support shown to those affected by the fire.”
