Elie Harbour is hosting a commemoration this Friday of the 70th anniversary of VE Day – the end of the Second World War in Europe.

The event, organised by the armed forces charity SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) begins at 6.30 p.m. with a short service of thanksgiving by retired RAF chaplain the Rev Dr Peter Mills.

After that, a harbour beacon will be lit and a wreath laid as an act of remembrance.

Guest of honour will be Fife’s Lord Lieutenant, Robert Balfour, and refreshments will be available, with everyone welcome to join in the occasion.
