In his capacity as Colonel in Chief of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh visited Leuchars Station for the first time this week to visit 2 Close Support Battalion REME who have relocated from Fallingbostel, Germany.

Commenting on the visit of HRH on Tuesday morning, Lieutenant Colonel Chris King said: “On behalf of 2 Close Support Battalion REME, it was an honour to be visited by our Colonel in Chief in our new home, Leuchars Station.

“HRH took great interest in the work the battalion is doing both here in the UK and overseas.”

He continued: “It is a privilege to command this Battalion. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to lead such a professional group of soldiers as we establish ourselves here in Scotland and prepare to build on our proud history.”

Lt Col King added: “We are deeply grateful for the warm reception we have received from the local community since our arrival.

“The Battalion now looks forward to contributing to the Army in Scotland while continuing to support operations around the globe in our new Adaptive Force role and integrating with our partnered Reserve Unit, 106 Battalion REME.”

Tri-Service Cadets: HRH was introduced to the Fife Lord Lieutenant's Cadets Able Cadet Connor Methvan (15) from Methil, Cadet Warrant Officer Georgina Booth (19) from Tayport, and Cadet Staff Sergeaant Judd Clark (18) from Markinch.
