The family of a woman who tragically fell to her death following a fall from a ward window, while being treated as a patient at Dunfermline’s Queen Margaret Hospital, have paid tribute to her.

61 year-old Josephine Mowat of Cardenden was wel known on the greyhound circuit and was described as “a wonderful mother”.

Last week, while in hospital as a patient, she fell from a hospital window. Officers continue to gather evidence as they investigate the circumstances leading to Mrs Mowat’s death.

Mrs Mowat’s husband Alfred, daughter Karen and sons David and Richard, said in tribute: “We would all like to mourn the passing of Josephine Mowat, a unique and very precious woman who was prematurely taken from the heart of a lovely family.

“She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many and had so much love and compassion to give and receive. We will miss you always. God bless you xx.”
