Organisers of the East Neuk Festival are continuing preparations for next year’s 10th anniversary programme.

The extended 2014 diary is aptly spread over 10 days and kicks off on June 27 with a weekend of classic jazz featuring clarinettist Julian Bliss, bassist Renaud Garcia Fons, and Martin Taylor’s solo jazz guitar.

Previous performers returning to the festival include pianist and conductor Christian Zacharias, plus the Belcea, Ebène and Elias string quartets, pianist Llŷr Williams and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

New to the Festival are The Gould Piano Trio, fortepianist Kristian Bezuidenhout, Ensemble Marsyas and tenor Allan Clayton.

The chamber music programme focuses on a weekend-long Schubertiad featuring Zacharias as pianist and conductor. Another innovation for the 10th birthday is staged opera: a highlight will be Kally Lloyd-Jones’s staging of Benjamin Britten’s ‘Curlew River’ within the simple setting and sonorous acoustic of Cambo Barn.

The full programme for the Festival will be announced on February 9 at www.eastneukfestival.com.
