Local businesses in Fife are invited to be part of a new multi-million pound VisitScotland campaign to encourage people in the UK to take a trip to Scotland.

The £2 million marketing campaign - aimed at audiences in London, Yorkshire and the North East - includes TV, digital, outdoor and print advertising, online promotions, competitions and PR events and hopes to remind people that Scotland really is ‘Closer than you think’.

With its rich history and heritage, stunning coastlines, world-famous golf courses and mouth-watering food and drink, Fife has long been a draw for visitors.

Almost 500,000 trips were made to the Kingdom in 2013 by people in the Great Britain, with domestic visitors spending £92 million.

Businesses are being asked to make the most of the short break market by using a special suite of downloadable digital adverts showcasing iconic locations such as the Old Course at St Andrews.

It is part of the national tourism organisation’s multi-million pound Brilliant Moments campaign which inspires people to explore the amazing experiences that are within easy travel distance of their home.

Manuela Calchini, VisitScotland regional partnerships director, said the Kingdom has a lot to offer: “Tourism is at the heart of Fife’s economy so I’d urge businesses across the region to make the most of this opportunity and inspire even more UK visitors to discover Fife.“

The VisitScotland Brilliant Moment Breaks ‘Closer than you think’ campaign runs from May – July, 2015. For more information, visit www.visitscotland.com
