A charity Zumbathon and kids party is being held later this month to raise some much needed funds for a Fife youngster.

The event is organised by FIFURZ who help raise money for good causes throughout the Kingdom.

Following on from the success of the group’s first Zumbathon which raised over £2000 to help pay for a specialist walker for Kirkcaldy boy Reiss Fairburn, this second event is in aid of a young Fife girl.

Lauren Ferguson has frontal lobe brain damage and also global development delay with lower limb problems.

She is in need of a standing frame and hoist to help with her everyday routine.

Also requiring some vital funding is PACT (Parents And Carers Together).

The group is based in Blairhall and need extra funds to buy some new sensory toys for children and to help set up a support group for parents and carers of children with additional support needs.

Leslie Cochrane, who runs Fifurz along with close friend Diane Smith, said: “We have already raised over £1000 for both of these good causes which is fantastic.

“I know that Laura and her family need around £2300 for the equipment that she desperately needs so hopefully we can continue to build on the money that we have so far.

“I don’t know if this event will be as successful as our last event, but I really hope that it is and we raise as much money as possible.”

The Zumbathon and kids Zumba party is on Saturday, August 23 from 10.00 a.m. to noon at the same venue of Templehall Community Centre in Kirkcaldy.

Who are Fifurz?

Both Leslie Cochrane and Diane Smith are part of the Zumba Instructor Network (ZINs).

They got togther to form a local community based fund raising group called FIFURZ – Fife Fundraising ZINs.

The women hold classes in the local community and aim is to reach out to communities within Fife and to raise funds for projects and causes that directly affect people in the area.

By running charity Zumba events they will raise funds that will go directly to a local cause, group or person in need of financial help.
