A Fife man drove his works van around streets in Dunfermline looking for cars to steal from, a court has heard.

Mark Brown (29) of Station Park, East Wemyss, admitted that on June 20 he entered four insecure vehicles and stole various items, when he appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

In Dover Drive, he stole a wallet from a car and in Plover Crescent, he stole a satellite navigation system.

In Tarmachan Close, he stole a hover board, then at another address in the same street, he stole a quantity of tools and a satellite navigation system.

The court was told that Brown was experiencing financial difficulties at the time, even though he was employed.

He had gone out in his works van, saw a car with its door open, stole from it and continued to do so from other unlocked vehicles in the area.

Sheriff Shelagh McCall deferred sentence until August 17 for reports.
