Pupils at a Kirkcaldy high school were evacuated this morning after a small fire.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received a call from St Andrews High School just after 10.20am.

All staff and pupils left the building and assembled in the car park of the next door St Marie’s Primary School.

It was discovered that the fire had started in a waste paper basket in a toilet.

The blaze was extinguished by 10.36am and fire fighters then began ventilating the building.

Pupils are now back in class.
