Have you seen the long-range weather forecast? Because a storm is approaching the auld grey toun of St Andrews!

The Other Guys, students of St Andrews University, have released a new charity single and video in support of Prostate Cancer UK – ‘It’s Raining Men’.

Following a string of successful charity YouTube videos including 2011’s ‘Royal Romance’, which marked the wedding of Kate and Wills, and ‘St Andrews Girls’, released in support of Breast Cancer Care, their latest endeavor sees the group once more searching for love at what has become to be known as the UK’s ‘matchmaking university’.

The ensemble was founded in 2004 by a group of friends who wanted to bring the American tradition of collegiate a cappella to the town of St Andrews.

Combining the classical with the contemporary, their philosophy has always been to entertain.

They perform regularly both at local student events and across the country, in addition to their own sell-out concerts; The Other Guys’ reputation has become synonymous with musicality, humour and the odd suspect dance move:

This year’s members hail from all over the world and, when not in the rehearsal room, find time to study everything from French and Neuroscience to Anthropology and Physics. Just like any other undergraduate of the 600 year-old University, any spare time is spent on the golf course, at the beach, with friends in the local student hot spots, or simply enjoying the beautiful, historical town that is St Andrews.

Raising money for charity has always been central to the groups’ ethos, since 2011 they have raised almost £10,000 for local and national charities.

Musical director Andrew Pattie said: “We felt it was time for another release. With exams in full swing the students here could do with a bit of light relief. We also hope to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, a charity which is very close to a number of us within the group.”
