A former regular presenter on BBC TV’s ‘Beechgrove Garden’ will be giving a talk at the Botanic Garden in St Andrews next month.

Lesley Watson – who is also a Royal Horticultural Society judge – featured on the show for 16 years until 2012, when she decided to concentrate on her role at New Hopetoun Gardens, west of Edinburgh, which she runs with Dougal Philip.

Together, they will host a friendly and informative workshop on pruning techniques and timings.

‘Pruning: learn to think like your plants’ will offer those present some easy rules to follow, and will include demonstrations as well as a talk.

Lesley and Dougal ran the original Hopetoun Walled Garden before moving to their new site, where there are 18 differently themed gardens.

Their garden centre has won awards for its themed promotions.

Their talk and demonstration will take place on Saturday, February 14 in the Glass Class at the Botanic Garden.
