The Moonzie Allstars mix up the sound of Highland pipes together with rhythms and grooves from around the globe. Reels and jigs collide with Brazilian beats and African grooves alongside original songs.
An impromptu performance at the Collessie festival in 2005 led to the formation of the band, their name taken from the village around which they all lived at the time.
After releasing their first album ‘Hypnagogic’ the band received radio play in the UK, and North America and played at venues and festivals in the UK and Europe gaining a reputation as an exciting live band.
They are finishing off their second album, delayed in part by David Adam’s relocation to Sweden and plan to release it early summer 2014 in time for a tour and festival appearances.
The band, who are all based in north east Fife, comprise David Adam on pipes, Johnny Beaver on drums, Geoff Stevenson on guitar and Graham Dickson on bass.
Graham and Geoff recently teamed up with David Latto and Gavin Brady to form a new bluegrass/rock fusion band called The Grass Hats.
Graham also plays bass for The Coaltown Daisies.
