If you were able to catch the Catch 22s over several years in the 2000s, you were assured of “fast, furious, catchy tunes at energetic live shows.”
The Glenrothes six-piece outfit became regular and hugely popular performers on the local live scene, describing their own sound as “fast, alcohol-fuelled ska, mixed with punk and disco”.
All of which added up to some lively stage outings and plenty of entertainment for their fervent followers.
They were fairly regular performers at some of the best-known Fife venues, such as the Greenside Hotel in Leslie, Woodside Inn in Glenrothes, Burns Tavern in Leslie and the Windsor Hotel, Kirkcaldy.
Honing their craft at the Tinpan Alley studios in Leslie, the Catch 22s also played the likes of Cupar’s Huge Hefty and Big Stooshie events of 2010 and 2011, and Rock the Regent gig at Leven’s Community Cinema in 2011, while the same year, they were seen at the Hootananny Club in Brixton, London.
In 2012, the year they called it a day, came their debut album on Ignite Records, entitled ‘Talk Of The Town’.
