The Sole Generation were a band from Dunfermline, active in the latter half of the ‘60s who evolved from ‘The Ambassadors’ over the winter of 1965.
Predominently a soul RnB outfit, they supported a fantastic line-up of established names such as the Moody Blues, Gene Vincent, The Troggs, The Small Faces, Cat Stevens, The Bee Gees, The Kinks, Chris Farlow and many many more.
However, sadly, no recordings exist.
The Sole Generation comprised Fritz Freeburn on vocals, saxophone, Dougie Strong on vocals, Dougie Wright, rhythm guitar, Alan Moir on bass, Bill Nisbet on lead guitar and Bill Kyle (and later Mark Ellen) on drums.
Fritz Freeburn had played previously with ‘The Hellcats’.
Dougie Wright went on to play with both ‘Scope’ and ‘Middle Age Spread’.
Drummer, Bill Kyle went on to run ‘The Jazz Bar’ in Edinburgh.
