Volunteers from Letham Glen’s Community Centre are delighted after being awarded thousands of pounds worth of funding.

The team was successful in securing £10,000 of funding as part of the Big Lottery’s Awards for All scheme.

This is going to make a massive difference.

The money will now be used to carry out essential upgrades to the centre and to hold even more events, which will boost the profile of the town centre venue.

Caroline Mitchell, who helps to run the community centre, said: “We’ve received £8000 of funding so we can upgrade the heating system so the centre can be used throughout the winter, and also put in a disabled toilet and insulation in the roof.

“The other £2000 is four grants of £500 to help us to put on four events at the Glen.

“Since we took over the centre, we have already put on 20 events but they have all been funded through our own hard work, so this is a big help.”

Caroline, who paid tribute to the hard work of all the volunteers at the centre, added: “This is going to make a massive difference – it will improve the hut and bring it up to the standard that it should be.”

Caroline also said a new kitchen will be installed at the same time after they were gifted a unit from local company Pots to Pipes.

Councillor Tom Adams, chairman of Fife Council’s Levenmouth area committee, welcomed the news, adding: “It’s brilliant news and helps to keep the profile of the park up after all the hard work they’ve done down at the centre.”
