A slice of Hollywood is coming to Anstruther on September 20 for the opening of the new Community Cinema at the Dreel Halls.
The screening of regular films will be launched by ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and ‘Ripper Street’ actor Clive Russell.
With equipment donated by Colinsburgh Community Cinema, Anstruther’s new Community Cinema will host monthly films on the big screen, starting with ‘The Imitation Game’.
Taking place on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons, the first programme of films will take in ageing detectives, a Glasgow barber caught up in a murder, cowboys heading west, beach boys, drummers and punks.
Anstruther Improvement Association president Christine Palmer said: “Cinema allows us to enjoy tales from across the world and immerse ourselves in fascinating stories. We are thrilled to be bringing regular film screenings to Anstruther and are extremely grateful to Colinsburgh Community Cinema for its kind donation of equipment and training.”
One of the highlights of the first season will be a screening of ‘Slow West’, a new take on the western genre directed by former Beta Band member John Maclean.
Tickets cost £4 (£2 under 18s) and more information can be found at www.anstrutherimprovements.org or via the AIA’s Facebook and Twitter.
