Children in Levenmouth have been giving some Commonwealth Games sports a try at a summer sports camp in Methil.
The children, aged four -12 years, have been taking part in commonwealth games related activities such as bowls, gymnastics, rugby, swimming, multi sport and dance at the camp at Kirkland High School.
As part of Active Fife’s summer programme the activities have been delivered voluntary by pupils from local high schools and sports clubs.
Jennifer Mann, Active Schools coordinator, said: “The Commonwealth Games are a momentous occasion for all. Active Schools Fife aims to take advantage of the unique opportunities offered by Glasgow 2014 to leave a lasting sporting legacy within Levenmouth by delivering programmes designed to motivate and inspire children and young people to get involved in sport and physical opportunities.
“Over the summer holidays this has involved working closely with the Levenmouth Community Sports Hub to promote summer sports programmes being hosted by local sports clubs and facility providers.”
The sports camp is due to return in the last week of the holidays with even more activities, such as karate and free running. For more, visit www.fifedirect.org.uk/activefife.
