The Girls’ Brigade in Kirkcaldy is looking for a new home ahead of the new session beginning in September.

The group is also inviting more girls to join the organisation – and seeking more volunteers to run activities.

Arlene Keddie, president of the Girls’ Brigade Fife division, said: “Our groups meet in church halls, so we’d like to hear from any church in Kirkcaldy that could give us a home.

“The Kirkcaldy group has around 20 members across all ages, and it’s a lively, active and friendly company. We’d be delighted to offer places to more girls who want to learn, develop, make friends and have fun.”

The Girls’ Brigade is open to girls of school age – Explorers for P1-3, Junior P4-7 and Brigaders S1-6 – and the companies are run by trained volunteers, providing a wide range of activities including crafts, drama, stories, dancing, art, games, music and baking.

The girls work towards one badge each year, and the activities they take part in during their weekly meetings count as part of their ‘badge work’.

Arlene added: “We also organise fun days, themed parties, trips and camps, so there’s something for everyone. Girls’ Brigade is for girls of all abilities and backgrounds.”
