Crew members from Anstruther-based Scottish Fisheries Museum’s flagship ‘Reaper’ vessel gathered on deck last Thursday to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The East Neuk staff toasted Britain’s longest reigning monarch – and the first to reach the age of 90 – with a variety of beverages, reflecting the celebratory mood around the rest of the country.

Elswehere, beacons were lit at the highest peaks of the UK – including Ben Nevis, while there was a 21-gun royal salute at Edinburgh Castle – attended by some local people – as well as the UK’s other capital cities.

There was also a gun salute at Stirling Castle, while the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh is hosting a major display of the Queen’s dresses and accessories.
