A community council in the south of Glenrothes could be forced to disband if it can’t attract more residents to get involved.

Pitteuchar, Stenton and Finglassie Community Council (PSFCC) has issued an urgent appeal for “new blood” after five of its committee members have been forced to step down because of health issues.

That leaves the committee with just seven elected members, two short of the minimum nine they need to legally operate as a legitimate community council.

Peter Scobie, PSFCC chairman told the Gazette: “There is a real risk that all work put in over the last few years plus the worthwhile improvement projects such as the children’s play areas and support for the vulnerable and elderly within the community could be wasted.

“We have a community council that can help influence change within our neighbourhoods but we need more people to get involved, just a couple of hours a month could make all the difference.”

For more information on how to get involved contact Peter on 01592-772025 before October 16.
