A charity fund raising day organised by Auchmuty High School this week proved to be a close shave for one pupil who ended up donating her hair for a good cause.

For S5 pupil Samara King had the cheers of her fellow classmates ringing in her ears after a local hairdresser was brought in to shave off all her hair.

But rest assured, it was not some sort of sadistic school punishment - instead it was a brave and noble effort by Samara who has now donated to the hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity who provide real hair wigs to youngsters across the UK that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

The event was also a non-uniform day with many pupils wearing fancy dress outfits from some of their favourite Disney chartacters, very in-keeping with The Little Princess Trust ethos.

And the there proved to be even more hair raising antics in the school hall during the lunch hour with several pupils shrugging off the pain to have their legs waxed.

A jelly eating relay race proved not to be for the faint hearted, while a host of other activities across the school proved a great success with over £2000 raised on the day with more to follow from sponsorship collections in the coming weeks.
