A Fife teenager has been crowned Miss British Empire Scotland and will now travel to London to compete for the overall UK title.
Aimee Gibson (19), from Glenrothes, is now well on her way to become the new Miss British Empire 2014.
A former student at St Andrew’s High School in Kirkcaldy, Aimee is now studying beauty at Fife College.
She said: “I was so amazed and suprised when they called my name.
“I dropped to my knees and started crying with happiness. I was over the moon.”
As the new Scottish beauty queen, Aimee is required to attend a number of events and charity functions decked out in her crown and sash throughout her reign.
Something that she is really looking forward to doing.
She said: “I am so excited. I will be definitely be making the most out of this great opportunity and one day in the future, I hope to enter Miss Scotland.”
Aimiee is somewhat of a veteran on the pageant scene having been entering a number of competitions at different levels over the past five years.
And she already has some titles under her belt.
Aimee won the Miss Crown and Glory in 2013, Best in Eveningwear round at the same pageant and was crowned the first runner up at the Miss Culture Scotland last year.
She is still continuing her beauty therapy studies while keeping up her training for the UK finals in a few weeks time although she knows there will be a lot of hard work still to come.
Aimee said: “I became involved in pageants when I was 14 years old so I really know what to expect of these competitions.
“I have always looked up to other beauty queens and thought I’d love to be that girl one day that people look up to me.
“I feel humbled by the overwhelming support from all my friends and family.
“These people have put me where I am,” Aimee added.
A lot of preparation goes into the beauty competition, from working out, practising walks, planning outfits to healthy eating.
The pageant is broken down into three separate rounds: fashion wear, swimwear and evening wear with competitors from across the UK vying for the top spot in their heat.
“I am really looking forward to going down to London,” Aimee continued.
“My favourite part of the pageant was meeting all the different girls and becoming good friends with them.
“I really still can’t believe it and I’m so excited for the future.”
