A NOTICEABLE upsurge in the amount of house break-ins has blighted Levenmouth over the past month.

Presenting his monthly report to members of the Levenmouth area committee, Chief Inspector Graeme Kinmond said that a “hard-core group”, which had now been caught, was behind the recent spate.

Local MSP Tricia Marwick praised the force for their efforts to reduce crime.

Specific reductions in crimes of violence, sexual crimes and crimes of vandalism and malicious mischief over the last year were recorded.

The amount of anti-social behaviour tickets being given out leaped to 186 - an increase of 106 on the same period.

Mrs Marwick told the Mail: “I correspond with the police on a daily basis and I have been very impressed with their commitment to assisting my constituents and taking up issues I have raised with them.”
