As part of Breastfeeding Awareness Week (21-28 June ), NHS Fife is providing a range of support to help mothers who choose to breastfeed their baby.
One of its services is the Mother Support Volunteers.
The team of five, are able to spend time on the maternity ward with all mothers discussing feeding options and providing information on all the support available for mums after they are discharged home.
Advice they give includes details of local breastfeeding support groups and details about breastfeeding support workers who assist women with breastfeeding in the community.
The mums are also provided with the ‘Off to a Good Start – all you need to know about breastfeeding’ booklet and they can also access information online at www.feedgoodfactor.org.uk
