The Merchant’s Quarter on Kirkcaldy High Street is to get a shot of glamour as a well-established local business makes a move.
Wedding suppliers ‘Finishing Touches By Adele’ is moving after 16 years in its small Kirk Wynd shop to 540 square feet and two floors in the former Reid’s furniture store.
And that means more jobs too.
Owner Adele Scott said the business had outgrown its current home.
“We started here with just two members of staff,” she said. “We did loads of weddings and soon started getting busier and now I employ nine.
“We’ve just got too big for this space and with the move we’ll need to take on more staff - we’ll probably need four new employees. If that helps people get off the dole, then brilliant.”
Adele says that it was important to keep Finishing Touches in Kirkcaldy.
“We’ve always been here and I’m a real believer in trying to make things work in this area,’’ she said. “It’s not had much good news recently with other shops closing, but we have quite a lot of customers who come to us from Glasgow, for example, so hopefully a move down into the High Street will give a boost in footfall to other shops.”
With the new store set to open at the beginning of next month Adele says it’s going to be “a good adventure”.
“It’s been a long time coming. We’re all high as a kite and loving it!”
Bill Harvey at Kirkcaldy 4 All welcomed Adele’s decision.
“We are delighted that Adele feels confident enough to invest in her business and move on to the High Street,” he said “It will also see an increase in employment which is great, so we are fully supportive.
“I’m sure it will be a success and would encourage people to give it a visit.”
