VOLUNTEERS are being sought to help make this year’s Templehall Gala a success.
Organisers are holding a special meeting for helpers on Wednesday at 12.30 p.m in Templehall Community Centre to discuss arrangements for the event next Saturday, August 20.
And anyone who would like to support the gala is invited to come along.
Volunteers don’t need to be available for the whole day - just a couple of hours would be fantastic!
The parade, headed by prince Kyle Macrae (11) and princess Chloe Hynd (10), will leave Templehall Community Centre at 11.45 a.m on the day and make its way down to the large field at Fair Isle. It will also feature novelty bikes as well as members of the famous Clan stunt team.
The gala gets underway at noon and will be officially opened by Kyle and Chloe.
There will then be a number of activities throughout the afternoon including drummers and twirlettes, NRJ dance group, races, facepainting, a Zumba display, fun fair rides, stalls, and beat the goalie.
There is also be the Templehall’s Got Talent competition which features nine finalists.
Also appearing will be Make Your Move Kirkcaldy and Sustrans, the charity which promotes walking and cycling.
They are working together to provide youngsters and adults with a whole host of fun bike-based activities, from cycle trails and maintenance workshops to BMX skills displays.
There will also be a brake adjustment demo, an air bag display, energy-making events including a bike-powered smoothie maker and a cycling performance by Otesha. A bike tryout area will also allow kids to bring their own bikes and helmets.
The Clan stunt team will be on site showing off their jaw-dropping skills including backflips and 360 degree spins, while Bikeworks will show you how to look after your bike.
There will also be a free two-hour ‘Get Started Cycling’ workshop for women. Everyone attending this will need to bring a bike with them.
