A KIRKCALDY dancer is to demonstrate her unique brand of Highland dancing at Tartan Week in New York this weekend.

Lianne Wilson (25), is part of the 11-strong ‘Assemble and Leap’ dance group who will dance at a lunchtime concert in New York’s Hanover Square on Saturday before joining the National Tartan Day parade down Fifth Avenue.

The group consists of Scotland’s top performing female dancers - including three world champions, a commonwealth champion and all of the regional champions from across Scotland.

The girls formed in November last year for the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing’s 60th anniversary.

Despite fundraising, the group was still short of the target until Barrhead Travel stepped in to help negotiate discounts and also donated $500 spending money.
