TWO Fife women are in training for a scenic walk through some of the most beautiful countryside in Scotland to raise money for Breast Cancer Care.

Kirkcaldy women Nicola Dempsey (28), of Frances View in Dysart, is planning to do the 20-mile Pink Ribbon Walk at Scone Palace in Perthshire with her friend Lyn Penman (31), of Tyrie Farm Cottages, on May 14, and between them, they hope to raise around £350 for the charity.

Nicola decided to do the Pink Ribbon Walk this year as her annual charity fundraising event, while, for Lyn it will be her first event.

Nicola explained: “Every year I try to do something for charity, and it is usually cancer related charities which I pick.

“I thought I would like to do a walk of some sort this year and I saw that the Pink Ribbon Walk was coming up.

“As we both have had people close to us who have been affected by breast cancer, we decided it would be a good one for us to do. We are also both trying to keep fit, so it has given us something to aim for.”

The girls have been trying to fit walking into their busy lives, doing shorter walks in the evenings with a longer one at weekends, usually along the Fife Coastal Path.
