Police have confirmed a two-year old boy has died in Thornton.
Senior officers have described it as’’unexplained’’ and said the death was ‘‘a tragic set of circumstances.’’
They are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
The information was revealed after news broke this morning that officers from Police Scotland were investigating what was being described as a serious incident at a house in Donald Crescent.
It is understood they were alerted on Saturday evening.
With forensic teams still at the property in the early hours of Sunday, few details were released.
This afternoon, Police Scotland confirmed the boy’s death and that he had been found in his house. They said no arrests have been made, nor is anyone detained in connection with the incident.
Superintendent Dougie Milton said: “This is a tragic set of circumstances where, sadly, a two-year-old boy has lost his life.”
He said officers were “working with and supporting the immediate family”.
Supt Milton added: “I can reassure the local community that at this time we are not looking for anyone else in relation to this unexplained death.
A post mortem will be carried out in the coming days to establish a cause of death.”
