A police investigation into the unexplained death of a Kirkcaldy woman continued today with forensic officers carrying out a detailed examination of the flat where she was found.

The woman’s body was discovered early on Sunday morning in a ground floor flat at Deas Wharf in the harbour area of the town.

Although police have not yet revealed the woman’s identity, she has been named locally as Jennifer Edwards.

Today the area around the building remained cordoned off with tape and a police van was stationed alongside the flat with two uniformed officers in attendance.

Forensic officers were also spotted examining the area around the six-flat block, including rubbish bins.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police in Fife are investigating following the death of a 45-year-old woman at an address in Deas Wharf, Kirkcaldy.

“The body was discovered on Sunday at around 4.20 a.m.

“Enquiries are ongoing, however the death is currently being treated as unexplained. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
