FAMOUS names are gearing up to mark a memorable festival in honour of Kirkcaldy’s most influential son next month .
Artist Jack Vettriano, author Ian Rankin and Professor Tom Devine are confirmed to appear in events to mark the Adam Smith Festival, starting on June 5.
Marilyn Livingstone, chair of charity organisers Adam Smith Global Foundation said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Tom Devine as our deliverer of our lecture this year and it’s going to be such a prestigious event in Kirkcaldy to have Ian Rankin and Jack Vettriano . We are so pleased that they have agreed to come - we hope the event will be sell-out.”
Journalist and broadcaster Lesley Riddoch will host An Audience with Jack Vettriano and Ian Rankin for the Adam Smith Book Festival at Kirkcaldy’s Old Kirk on Saturday, June 8.
The night will include questions from the audience, and tickets are available from the Adam Smith Theatre Box Office, priced £8.
In addition, members of the public can attend the Adam Smith Lecture on June 6 free of charge.
Professor Tom Devine - described as Scotland’s ‘national bard’ - will speak of “Smith’s World: The Puzzle of the Scottish Enlightenment”.
Marilyn said: “This June’s festival is going to be a signature event in Kirkcaldy’s calendar, one which we hope will go from strength to strength in future years to enable us to promote Kirkcaldy as an iconic tourist destination.”
