A man responsible for the assault and permanent disfigurement of a 24-year-old man on Dewar Drive, Leven, earlier this year has been jailed.

At Glasgow High Court on Tuesday, Steven Strang pleaded guilty to assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement and endangerment to life on April 16, 2015.

The 28-year-old was subsequently sentenced to five years and three months in prison.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Dursley, who led the investigation, said: “We welcome this sentence and hope this sends a clear message that violent behaviour will not be tolerated.

“Police Scotland continues to bring those involved in violent crime to justice through operations such as the Campaign Against Violence (CAV).

“I would like to thank the public for their support with our enquiries and continue to encourage both victims and witnesses to come forward and report violent crime.”
