EAST Wemyss singer Janey Kirk was back in the spotlight this week when she mades a guest appearance in Glasgow to mark the launch of her new CD.
She performed three songs from the album, Don’t Colour Me Blue, at the HMV store in Buchanan Street.
The versatile singer says the collection of songs have a distinctly country flavour.
“Although I like to perform all types of music, the country genre keeps pulling me back,” said Janey.
The album is also a poignant tribute to one of her idols, the late US country legend Billy Jo Spears, who Janey appeared with on a Ladies of Country Tour last year shortly before her death.
“We were on the tour bus listening to a demo CD that she had been sent of several songs when we were stopped in our tracks by one of them called Don’t Colour Me Blue,” Janey recalled.
“We all knew instantly it was special and Billy Jo told me I should record it.”
Janey, who now also manages other acts, can also be seen on the small screen as a presenter and performer on Sky TV’s Music Express programme.
Her CD is available through HMV stores and online at Amazon.
