A young student from Kennoway has been recognised for his efforts as an apprentice.
Fife College student Shaun Orr (20) was celebrating recently after he was awarded the Machine Shop Apprentice of the Year Award.
Shaun, who works for Sterling Precision Engineering, based at Mitchelston Industrial Estate in Kirkcaldy, was presented with the Award at the College’s Future Skills Centre in Glenrothes.
Tutor Harry Reekie said: “Shaun has worked really hard and shown a real desire to learn.
“Throughout his time at College, he has shown he has the qualities required to be an effective apprentice, based on machining skills including manual and CNC milling and turning, but moreover his attendance, punctuality and willingness to face a challenge make him very deserving of this award – well done Shaun!”
In partnership with local employers, Fife College trains 500 modern apprentices per year in engineering related disciplines recognising the importance of these to the local, regional and national economy.
