Children from all across Levenmouth can once again enjoy fun activites in a safe environment after a local child care facility helped to revive a cancelled kids club.

The ‘Mad Kid’s’ club had operated out of Buckhaven Parish Church for some years, but due to reasons outwith their control, organisers of the local club were faced with the disappointing prospect of closing the service which was much needed and appreciated by local families.

Fortunately Poppyview - which is based at Ajax Way at Methil Docks - had just been established as a voluntary group and discussions went ahead resulting in the decision to join forces.

Ultimately, ‘Mad Kids’ may have disappeared but it has now re-emerged just down the road as Poppyview Family Centre Out of School Club. The staff moved with the children ensuring some continuity of service to local children, parents and carers.

The Club will now enjoy the benefits of having a base in a purpose built Centre and access to a better range of resources.

Fiona Ballantyne, manager of Mad Kids Out of School Club, said: “It was sad to see Mad Kids After School Club close.

“However we are very happy to be in the fortunate position to continue an after school/holiday service in the Centre and look forward to the exciting times ahead as we all work together to develop Poppyview Family Centre Out of School and Holiday Club.”

Karen Lister is manager of Poppyview Family Centre, which provides care for children as young as just six weeks old, up to five years.

She said “We are delighted to welcome Fiona and her team to Poppyview Family Centre and look forward to working with them in the future and developing our Out of School and Holiday Club.”

The new Poppyview Family Centre After School Club offers out of school care/holiday care for children aged from leaving primary school to 14 years and operates Monday - Friday: 3.00 – 6.00 p.m. during school terms, 8.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. on staff in-service days and 8.00 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. during school holidays.
