THE threat of a wash out thankfully didn’t materialise as youngsters put on their best fancy dress outfits at Star’s annual Gala Day.
A lone piper led the procession which included a werewolf, racing driver, a couple of flamenco dancers, a bumble bee and a Bob the builder through the village to the show area in the park.
And as the fancy dress winners were soaking up the applause, there was brisk business taking place at the plant and home baking stalls as well as a prize-laden tombola stand.
Even your intrepid Gazette reporter managed to come away with three prizes, even if one of them was a tin of soup!
Kids also got a chance to get up close and personal with a range of weird and wonderful reptiles ensuring another great gala day was had by all.
