A Kirkcaldy DJ is set to hit the right notes when he takes Fife’s biggest Deep House night to a major dance event in Dundee this weekend.

Lewis Montague launched ‘Deeper’ in Society, Kirkcaldy, last year before moving it to Kittys nightclub in the town and re-launching it as ‘Deeper Nights’ owing to high demand.

Now, thanks to its success in Fife, Lewis has been approached to take it to the Dundee Dance Event, which will feature over 120 DJs and artists across 18 venues this Sunday.

Lewis (33), who started DJ-ing three years ago, will be performing at West Port in Dundee from 4.00 p.m. until midnight along with three other Fifers – Dominic Zo, Darren Seivewright and Kenneth Venters.

He told The Press: “Someone got in touch from the Dundee Dance Event to ask me if I wanted to take part. They had heard about the success of Deeper and I was more than happy to take it there.

“Deeper is Deep House music – like the kind of house music you have in Ibiza – but it is not as intense as harder dance.

“It has done really well since I launched it last year. This is the first time I have taken Deeper to a big event like this one and I am hoping to build on that.”

The event isn’t the first big event Lewis, who is known as DJ Lewis M, has played at.

He has DJ’d for the biggest name in Scottish clubbing, Colours, and has also played at the biggest dance event in the country, Coloursfest, as well as EH1 festival and I AM Hardwell.

Lewis also regularly plays at The Arches in Glasgow, as well as Kittys.

He is also due to play for a week in Ibiza this summer as well as a festival in Durham in July.

He added: “I am really excited about the Dundee event and looking forward to playing with the other DJs.”

The Dundee Dance event – which is the UK’s biggest DJ showcase for local talent – is free to attend with a ticketed closing party being held in Beau Nightclub – in the former Déjà Vu building – in the city.
