Beauty student Kathryn Cameron from Kirkcaldy has swept the boards at a national beauty competition winning first place in the UK Skills Awards held in Edinburgh.

The 21-year-old, who is studying NC Beauty at the College’s St Brycedale Campus, competed against students from all over Scotland to receive the coveted title and will now go forward to the UK finals in Birmingham later this year.

The competition, which lasted all day, involved carrying out a range of beauty treatments on a client including half leg wax, a deluxe manicure and full facial.

Judges were looking for perfection alongside good customer care, health and safety awareness and an overall high standard of skill.

Said Kathryn: “The competition was a fantastic experience. I was delighted to win and I’m really looking forward to the national competition in November.”

Also taking part in the competition was 17-year-old Lauren Coventry from Glenrothes who is also studying NC Beauty.
