‘Britain’s Got Talent’ conned us’ - say duo

Waiting for Video...

A MOTHER and daughter singing duo from Glenrothes who were voted off the Britain’s Got Talent TV show have become an internet sensation reports NEIL HENDERSON.

Ina and Jean Tocher who live in Macedonia appeared on the hit ITV show performing the Dusty Springfield hit ‘You Don’t have To Say You Love Me’ but were dumped from the show when they failed to get any votes from the celebrity judges.

And now the footage of their television performance has received over 70,000 UK hits in just two weeks since their appearance.

The pair have since claimed that they were unfairly treated by the programme organisers and that the edited version of the broadcast made them look out of tune and portrayed them in a bad light.

They also claim that Amanda Holden, one of the celebrity judges actually voted for them but that too was edited out of the show.

Jean’s husband Edward said: “I knew that the girls were in for a rough time when Simon Cowell said that they ‘should never perform in public again’.

“They had already got through a previous round held in Edinburgh in February yet when it came to the show being broadcast it made Ina and Jean look terrible, they’ve conned us.

“No wonder BBC show, The Voice is doing well, they do not make a fool of any of their contestants and that’s how it should be.

“A long time ago shows like Opportunity Knocks and Stars In Their Eyes were good to watch and no one was made to look bad, that’s how family shows should be run.”

The family complained to the producers following the broadcast being aired but despite constant phone calls have heard nothing back from programme bosses.

The singing duo, who have appeared on Britain’s Got Talent for two consecutive years are now planning to produce a video to prove their singing capabilities in a hope of setting the record straight.

“We want to prove that we can sing, after all we were both members of GAMA and CHORL music Society for three years so we can’t be that bad” said Jean.

“We had a good time when we went to London for filming last year and we had a long chat with Simon Fuller who told us that he liked people that kept coming back and did not give up hope.

“Not like Simon Cowell, he wants to see new blood all the time and anyone with a good leg and not much else will get his vote, as we can all see.”

And the pair now want to turn their attention to BBC’s rival show The Voice as Ina explained: “We are now thinking of applying for The Voice, and we’d expect to do better in a show like that.

“It certainly won’t stop us from singing and performing that’s for sure as we feel we have a lot to offer as a singing mother and daughter.”
