A Leuchars-based student has become animated with the news that Dundee College has been nominated twice for awards at a forthcoming ceremony to be held in Glasgow.
Nathan Boggan, who is currently on the BA design and creativity course at the college, has had an animation he created nominated for an award at the Creative Loop Student Media Festival, which takes place at the CCA, Glasgow, next week.
Creative Loop is a partnership which bridges the gap between Scotland’s creative media industry and education.
It works closely with the education sector across the country to develop talent and skills for learners, independent producers and media industry bodies.
A series of awards are being presented to students’ work deemed outstanding by industry experts from across the country.
Among those nominated are two works from Dundee College: Early Morning and Will’s Poem, which are both in the animation category of Creative Loop awards.
The animations were made by three graduates from Dundee College’s HND 3D Computer Animation programme.
Nathan and Joe Douglas, from Pitscottie, created Early Morning, while Will’s Poem, is the work of Dundonian William Mitchell.
Nineteen-year-old Nathan told the Citizen: “I’m pretty excited about this event.
“It was a real surprise to win the nomination.”
The former Madras College pupil is determined to pursue a career in animation when he graduates and saw last week’s tax break for the games development industry as a shot in the arm for this area.
He added: “Eventually I’d like to work in TV, film or making adverts or, of course, the games industry which is an important employer in this area.”
