LEVEN Baptist Church is to send a team of eight people over to Beirut this summer.

The team will be working alongside a church across there which is looking to develop its premises.

A fundraising campaign has now been launched to help raise enough cash to send the group across to Lebanon.

The church in Beirut, having undertaken a community survey, wants to adapt its building to make it fit for purpose to better serve the needs of local people.

The Leven team will be involved in general labouring, plastering and painting on this ambitious project.

The members will also be working with the church’s children’s workers to provide a youngsters’ club for the local community.

A cookery evening has already been held to help raise money, with the next fundraiser being a planned two hour Zumbathon, led by local Zumba instructor Karen Waggett.

The event, which costs £5 to take part in, will take place this Saturday at 10am in the church hall located in Forth Street, Leven.
