AN event which brought the area’s churches together has been hailed a success.

‘Celebrate and Discover’ was organised by Kirkcaldy Presbytery’s mission and discipleship committee, with representatives from all the churches in the area, from Burntisland and Leven, invited to host an exhibition about the life and work of their church.

The event, at Kirkcaldy High School, also saw a wide assortment of workshops.

Rev Gillian Paterson, minister at Methil Parish Church and convener of the organising committee, said: “It went really well. It was superb – everything we hoped for and more.

“The work people had put into the displays and exhibitions was terrific.

“Around 600 people came during the day and there were 400 at the closing service. It was a very special atmosphere.

“The main thing people have said is how much they had enjoyed meeting people from other churches and finding out what was possible to do.”

The keynote address came from Rev Wilma Cairns, Presbytery Moderator and minister at Buckhaven and Wemyss Parish Church.
