Pupils from across Levenmouth visited Lundin Links last week as part of a special area-wide tennis competition. The event, organised by Active Schools and Lundin Sports Club, welcomed primary three, four, five and six pupils from Buckhaven, Coaltown of Wemyss, East Wemyss, Denbeath, Methilhill and Lundin Mill Primary Schools.

The youngsters were competing for the chance to take part in the north east regional team competition in St Andrews. After a keenly-fought contest, primary three and four pupils from Coaltown of Wemyss and East Wemyss narrowly missed out, taking joint third place, while Buckhaven and Lundin Mill now go through to the next stage. Primary five and six pupils from Methilhill and Lundin Mill also progressed, with Buckhaven in third place. Jennifer Mann, Active Schools co-ordinator, thanked all the volunteers who had made the event possible, adding: “With the summer months around the corner and heightened TV coverage, tennis is an ideal sport for children and young people to be inspired to play at school or in their local community.”
