Libraries in Cupar, St Andrews, Auchtermuchty and Ladybank will be celebrating Bookbug Week with special sport-themed free sessions for pre-school children.
This year’s week – May 19-25 – will be based around the theme of Bookbug’s Big Sports Day, and babies, toddlers and their parents are being invited to gather at events across Fife to enjoy sports-themed activities, rhymes, stories and songs.
Sharron Brown, Bookbug co-ordinator for Fife, said: “Bookbug sessions in Fife are a free, fun and friendly experience for children and their families. Through stories, rhymes and songs families can enjoy some special bonding time at a very important pre-school stage of a child’s development.
“Bookbug Week gives us all the opportunity to celebrate how exciting learning through books and play can be, regardless of age, and how important the Bookbug progamme is to children in Fife.”
Bookbug sessions will be held at Auchtermuchty Library on Monday, May 19, St Andrews on Tuesday, May 20, Cupar on Wednesday, May 21, and Ladybank on Friday, May 23. All sessions are at 10.00 a.m. Contact the library to check availability of spaces.
Children who attend the events will receive a special booklet of songs and rhymes.
Bookbug in Fife is part of Scottish Book Trust’s national Early Years Programme.
