Lights Out By Nine had a sell out show on Friday night which a large crowd crammed into the Duchess to see the soul and funk band.
The fundraiser gig for community radio station K107 FM in association with the Fife Free Press also saw former X Factor contestant Emily Middlemas and Dave Latto and Gavin Brady from The Dave Latto Band take to the stage.
16-year-old Emily opened the show wtth an accoustic set mixing her self-penned hits with covers including Coldplay’s Yellow. Next up were alt-country outifit Dave Latto and Gavin Brady. The duo brought a a country sound reminiscent of Kris Kristoferson to the event.
Saving the best for last, Lights Out By Nine took to the stage to a round of appaulse. The band brought their powerhouse funky blues to Kirkcaldy and rocked the venues foundations as they played their set crammed with hits doused with a bluesy flavour.
From Lost In the Blues to the more upbeat Take It Or Leave It, the band had the crowd dancing to their one of a kind soulful sound blended with an excellent brass section. Playing a short instrumental peice half way through their set as frontman John Frame took a breather, showcased what excellent musicians the band really are.
This was the last show of the year for LOBN after a busy schedule of shows across the country. Hopefully we will see the lads playing back in Fife soon.
