200 houses in new Chapel development

A MAJOR housing development for Chapel has been unveiled.

A company wants to build over 200 houses on loand north of Ostler’s Way.

Dundas Estates and Development Company has lodged an application with Fife Council and has pledged to build a broad range of accommodation.

The original plan for 380 houses has been scaled back to 203 houses - with up to five bedrooms -and 22 flats , and the designs include garages, and sufficient communal parking,

A statement from the company said: “The original development brief indicated approximately 380 units, but now the density of housing is slightly lower due to the desire to build more family houses and private gardens.”

The design plan also aims to ensure there are direct foot and cycle paths in the development, bus access and many courtyards and public art.

One objection has been lodged, but

But Kirkcaldy north councillor David Ross said, in general terms, he welcomed the plans.

He said: “This site is already zoned for housing and it is good to see that developers want to proceed with a detailed planning application.’’

Kirkcaldy MSP David Torrance added: “This is great news for Kirkcaldy.

‘‘If the plans go ahead they will create local jobs for people in the building industry. ‘‘
